It was a year of major changes to the channel lineup, with four new additions: HBO Olé, replacing Showtime; the cultural diffusion channel, Discovery Channel; the rising American television network FOX; and Eurochannel, a TVA-exclusive channel, showcasing the best programming from European broadcasters such as TVE and RAI.
