Supercanal, launched in 1990, soon encountered financial difficulties, leading to its partial acquisition by Grupo Abril and rebranding as TVA on October 1991. As part of this transformation, three new channels were added: the famous Turner-owned channel TNT made its first appearance in Brazil, The Superstation, focused on delivering the best TV shows from major American networks such as CBS, NBC, and ABC; and Showtime, a 24-hour channel showcasing top films from studios like MGM, Paramount, and Universal. Additionally, TVMúsica was rebranded as MTV Brasil.
